BBQ Chicken!

Don't worry, this is not a recipe for one of our favourite summer activities!

Yesterday the weather was so lovely, we decided to have a BBQ. It was one of those disposable sort. The hens must have been interested in the activity (probably the smell) and came down the path from the main garden to join us on the patio.

The BBQ was resting low on some stone blocks and to my amazement one of the girls walked straight up to it and attempted to steal a sizzling hot sausage. I have heard of dogs doing this, but never chickens!

Luckily my husband came to the rescue with his work bench, just the right height to keep them at bay from nicking my burgers as well. They weren't put off though and stuck around for ages.

They had a good old nose around, even though there was little else to eat apart from our food.

I think they were hoping we may drop a few tasty morsels when I spotted them under the table.

Then they met a few garden friends before taking themselves back to the garden.

I acted quickly and shut the gate, just before I put on some corn on the cob on to cook.

I think they may have resorted to drastic measures in order to get their beaks on that!

Happy Easter

Okay big ears, where have you hidden our eggs?

You are such an interfering little Easter Bunny. Why can't you leave things alone? They must be around here somewhere?

Perhaps they are over there?

Or they could be under here? I may have to eat them to find out.

Okay, listen, I will tell you a secret, but it is one you should remember.

Sometimes, you can search for something for so long. You may go looking in places far away to try and find what you want, but then one day you find it - right under your nose. And sometimes, it turns out to be even more magical than you remembered in the first place.

Happy Easter!
